R&D and Gameplay programmer

Hytale blends the scope of a sandbox game with the depth of a role-playing experience, immersing players in a procedurally generated world filled with towering structures and deep, rewarding dungeons.

Built with creativity at its core, the engine enables everything from block-by-block construction to advanced scripting and customization through powerful, accessible tools.

Over 1.5 years, I was actively involved in research and development, contributing to both gameplay and game design, as well as the creation of level design tools. My work included voxel-based tools, shaders, in-game video systems, pixel art painting features, sound ambiance systems, and the design and implementation of an in-game C# scripting system with real-time compilation, enabling rapid iteration and advanced customization directly within the game.

Big project started

In October 2015, I joined the initial development team working on Hytale, composed of contributors from around the world, each bringing a high level of expertise.

Responsible for exploring new gameplay ideas, I worked to make the game—then still at the prototype stage—more dynamic, modular, open to external content, and, above all, more interactive in a multiplayer context.

This led me to design and implement a range of experimental and innovative systems and interactions, including real-time voxel editing tools (with a prefab system), in-game pixel art painting, character facial expressions, first-person block visibility, in-game video integration, dynamic ambient audio based on environment, water interaction for blocks, C# scripting tools for level designers, animated block destruction, and interactive mechanisms such as pressure plates, buttons, levers, and doors.

Hypixel Studios

Hypixel Studios consists of a remote-first team collaborating from around the world, with members ranging from newcomers in the games industry to veterans with over 15+ years of experience.

Originally an independent studio, Hypixel Studios was later acquired by Riot Games before returning to independent ownership under its original structure and leadership. Throughout these changes, the team has remained focused on its mission and product vision.

The team brings together a wide range of backgrounds, united by a shared passion for games and a commitment to delivering the best possible experience for players.

Today, the studio is 100+ strong, covering all traditional game development roles as well as a variety of operational functions.

In December 2018, Hypixel Studios surprised the video game world by revealing the trailer for Hytale, an adventure and creation sandbox game.

Since then, this 2-minute trailer has captivated over 63 million viewers, sparking unprecedented excitement and high expectations for the game.
